On 16 May, join us for a day focused on the topic of migration - a space to explore your own views, explore what the Bible says, and discover practical ways for you and your church to share the gospel with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Why You Should Join This Conference

In the UK – as well as globally – questions around borders, identity, culture, and national responsibility are shaping public conversation and influencing how many Christians think and feel about the world around them.

At the same time, the Bible has a rich and compelling story to tell about the movement of people, the heart of God for the nations, and the calling of his Church in a changing world. And yet, for many Christians, it can feel daunting to know where to even begin in building a relationship with someone from a completely different culture.

On 16 May, the Urban Mission Conference will create a thoughtful, and prayerful space for Christians to explore this important topic. Whether you feel confident in your views, cautious and conflicted, or simply overwhelmed by the noise of public debate, this day is for you.

Faithful believers hold a range of convictions when it comes to the idea of what a nation is. They may be represented in your own church, or even your own family. But for many Christians, they simply feel unsure what to think or how to respond.

Wherever you find yourself, you are welcome.

A safe space to explore

This conference is intentionally designed to be a place where Christians can pause, breathe, and think deeply - without being pushed toward any particular position.

Our speakers bring a range of experiences and viewpoints. Yet they all share a deep, unifying conviction: to share the truth of the gospel. We’ll explore how we can do this - sharing practical steps to making connections with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Our hope is that, by the end of the day, you’ll have gained clarity - on what migration means for followers of Jesus, and that you’ll be excited about the steps you and your church can take in sharing Jesus with people around you.

A missional, biblical, compassionate vision

This conference is designed to help Christians engage with migration beyond just a political or cultural issue, but as a missional one - rooted in Scripture, shaped by compassion, and guided by the character of Christ.

Join us as we listen, learn, and imagine how God might use us in this moment.

Who is the conference for?

This conference is for church leaders and everyday Christians alike - anyone who wants to think more clearly and Biblically about migration - whether you were born in the UK or elsewhere. Whether you’re a pastor trying to guide your congregation, a ministry leader navigating sensitive conversations, or a Christian who simply wants to understand this topic better, you’ll find a space where your questions are welcomed and taken seriously.

It’s also for those who feel the weight of the issue in conversations and in the media, and long for clarity that isn’t political, pressured, or polarised. It may be you’ve struggled to know how to think, how to feel, or how to respond to the movement of people into your community.

Wherever you’re at, we pray you’ll leave excited about how God could use you and your church to share the hope of Jesus with people you might be walking past every day. They might just be waiting for someone like you to share it with them.

What to expect from the day

We’ll begin the day by exploring what the Bible says about migration, before turning in the second half to consider how we can practically reach people from cultures and backgrounds different from our own.

  • Explore what the Bible says about migration

Drawing on Scripture’s overarching story - from Abraham and Ruth to Jesus and the early Church - we will consider how God works through the movement of people and what this means for believers today.

  • Reflect on how Christians can navigate a complex moment with wisdom and grace

We will acknowledge the very real tensions and fears present in public conversation, while seeking to think biblically, prayerfully, and charitably.

  • Discover practical ways churches can connect with and care for migrants

In a city like London, the nations are often just a few streets away, a few doors down, or even across the landing.

This conference will help you see the immense opportunity that this presents. We will look at real examples, creative opportunities, and simple, relational ways to welcome those who have arrived in our communities. We’ll also look at how we can communicate the gospel across cultures.

You’ll leave equipped with practical ways your church - whatever its size, context, or experience - can connect with, care for, and share the hope of Jesus with the people God has brought to your doorstep.
