One in four Londoners are followers of other religions – over half are Muslims. The Lord calls us to witness to all people and nations and we long to see churches in London filled with people from other faith backgrounds.
We work alongside local churches to build connections with people around them - whether that's Bengali Muslims in Tower Hamlets or Punjabi Hindus in west London - engaging them with the gospel in an effective and loving way.
For many Muslims, their culture is all-encompassing with little chance of hearing the gospel. But as our missionaries will tell you, Muslims are very open to talking about God.
This was the case with Tahreen. In fact, when she met LCM missionary Ilyas at a local church food bank, she had already been thinking about Jesus for some time.
Ilyas was able to explain the gospel to her for the first time and gave her a Bible in Urdu.
“I started reading and learning about Jesus. I love Jesus, he is everything to me now!” said Tahreen.
Each year, hundreds of Christians are getting equipped through our Muslim Engagement Training. They get trained on understanding the origins of Islam, the evidence for the crucifixion and how to lovingly meet and talk with Muslims about Jesus.
Every Easter, after being trained, churches across the city head out together onto the streets to meet, get to know and lovingly speak to Muslims about Jesus – as part of the Believe In Jesus campaign.
Our missionaries help churches to meet the needs of people from other religious backgrounds. In north London, churches are running English classes for the local Turkish-speaking Muslims. The classes are proving to be a great opportunity to build friendships and to share the gospel.
“We had six people (from our church) interested at first, but then another six became involved as well – people who I didn’t know had a heart for sharing the gospel with Muslims”.

LCM shares the gospel alongside the local church of London, equipping everyday Christians to lovingly bring a message of hope in Christ to those least likely to hear it.
