When Andrea was growing up in Uganda, she witnessed her dad’s life transform as he become a follower of Jesus.
Andrea began to identify as a Christian, but she recalls she had “a detached, superficial faith.” In her early teens, when a tragic separation happened in her family, her faith fell apart.
Then years later, at the beginning of the COVID pandemic, Andrea’s older brother had a dream about Jesus and gave his life to Christ. He would regularly speak to Andrea about Jesus, until one night she had a life-changing encounter with the Lord.
“In an instant, I felt aware of the relationship he wanted me to have with him. I woke up the next day hungry to read the scriptures... I repented and believed that afternoon!”
Since giving her life to Christ, Andrea spent her free time sharing the good news with family, friends and strangers. She soon felt called to ministry and asked God how he wanted to use her.
“My heart for mission is summed up in Jeremiah 29:7 - ‘But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”
Andrea now serves as a Mission Associate in the Haringey Team, supporting churches to confidently share Jesus – especially with those unlikely to hear the gospel. This involves going out with church members and connecting with local people on their doorsteps, as well as on the local highstreet.
Andrea specialises in serving churches from ‘diaspora’ communities. With over 180 languages spoken in Haringey, there’s a great opportunity to partner with these diverse churches – helping them to share the good news of Jesus both within their own communities and beyond.
“I would love to reach people from all backgrounds and beliefs– being 'all things to all people' for the sake of the gospel (1 Corinthians 9:19-23). We have a unique opportunity in Haringey to reach the nations!”
Andrea spends her free time watching cooking shows, going on walks, travelling, and listening to music. Andrea shares: “I am something of a chronicler, so I enjoy learning about people's lives and experiences either through a book, podcast or conversation.”
