Andrew Simpson

Mission Associate in Barking & Dagenham and Havering

"Ultimately we want to offer everyone in Dagenham the chance to hear the gospel!"

Before Andrew met Christ, he stumbled into a church on a Thursday evening in a very bad way. The Minister kindly allowed him to stay and pray where he knelt before the Lord for over an hour.

Miraculously he felt a strong sense of God's presence which he could not ignore, and he was moved to give his life to Christ. He started visiting the LCM foodbank run by the same church, and soon became a volunteer himself! Fast forward over 10 years and Andrew is a full-time Mission Associate with LCM...

"What's not to love?! I get to tell people about Jesus every day – it’s amazing."

Andrew works as a mission associate in Barking and Dagenham with a focus on reaching out to seniors that are struggling with loneliness.

He is seeking to equip and inspire everyday Christians in local churches to lovingly bring a message of hope in Christ to those least likely to hear it. This often looks like running the church's cafe, and going out into the community to build friendships and love those on the margins.

Dagenham's unemployment rate is higher than the London average, with families struggling through the cost-of-living crisis and many accessing local foodbanks now more than ever before.

"My vision is to help believers to go out and tell people about Christ and what he has done for us. Ultimately we want to offer everyone in Dagenham the chance to hear the gospel!" says Andrew.

Andrew has a supportive wife along with two children and six grandchildren. He remains passionate about his long-term interest in model railways since 50 years!
