Darius had been introduced to the Christian faith by his Grandma, but when he came to London from his native Romania, he wasn’t walking with the Lord. It was after the persistent witness of a friend, that Darius sought God’s will for his life. After coming to faith, Darius discovered a passion for sharing Jesus, especially with vulnerable people.
“Having experienced homelessness for a brief period of time, God has given me a heart for people that I don't think I would have otherwise had.”
Darius is leading Hope Community Homes (HCH), a project that aims to bring its name to life – bringing hope to the reality of people’s lives. Guests are provided with a place that they can call home and receive holistic support to their lives' struggles, helping them to thrive and explore their faith journey.
Today in London the number of rough sleepers has doubled over the past decade, with an average age of death at just 45 years old, with many from suicide. Out of sight, many thousands of women are enduring the horror of being involved or even enslaved in sex work. For hurting people who have experienced so much rejection, there are huge social barriers to hearing a gospel message of God's grace. Practical help and genuine care are essential in creating an environment where healing and restoration of the whole person can take place.
Darius’ vision is to see the kingdom of God break through into the lives of people who are homeless in Waterloo and Brixton.
Darius enjoys football and baseball. He loves spending time with his family which he considers God’s blessing.
