Mark was born in a Christian family, but it wasn’t until his late teens when he faced a troubling time that he started to take his faith more seriously.
Since being made redundant at the start of his career, Mark began praying for opportunities to get more involved in God’s mission. When he discovered the LCM Pioneer training programme, he jumped at the chance to learn and be trained for ministry to those on the margins in London.
“I believe that God has been preparing me for this ministry to relate to and reach out to others in need with the gospel. The training I received in the Pioneer Programme has deepened my understanding of God’s mission and I want to continue to serve God in this way. It’s given me the tools to make an impact for Christ!”
Mark now works as a Mission Associate in Tower Hamlets with a focus on reaching out to Muslims and people from other religions with the love of God and the good news of Jesus Christ. He is seeking to equip and inspire everyday Christians in local churches to lovingly bring a message of hope in Christ to those least likely to hear it.
Tower Hamlets is a diverse part of London with a high level of deprivation, where over 50% of children live below the poverty line. “There are many which are unreached by the gospel - the spiritual and physical needs become more and more visible as you get to know the area. As I see the obvious needs for housing and community, I am reminded of the greater need for God’s transforming power in people’s lives.”
“My vision is that every person in Tower Hamlets would have the opportunity to hear the gospel, and my hope is that this is the start of great things to come, where people who come to faith are then discipled to make more disciples for the glory of God.”
Mark lives with his wife and children in London, and loves to sit down with a coffee and a good book in his spare time.
