At the age of 41, as a major operation approached, Michael began reflecting on his life. While in hospital, a family member gave him an evangelistic book which convicted him of the sin in his life and his desperate need for a Saviour. “My life has totally changed. My wife became a Christian and we both got baptised. To me it’s mind-blowing that God would now use a person like me to go and train churches, and co-labour with him to transform lives for Jesus.”
“I am incredibly passionate about winning souls to Jesus, and I want to put tools into the hands of individuals in churches across Southwark by envisioning and equipping them to do the same.”
Michael works as a missionary in Southwark with a focus on reaching out to diaspora communities, primarily made up of people who have moved from, or identify with, another part of the world. He is seeking to equip and inspire everyday Christians in local churches to lovingly bring a message of hope in Christ to those least likely to hear it.
Southwark is a diverse borough with people from a wide range of ethnicities and backgrounds. 11% of households have no members who speak English as a first language, and neighbourhoods are 50% more income-deprived than the average neighbourhood in London.
"People have come to be in London in so many different ways. The biggest priority for the Church is to see everyone invited into the Kingdom of God! It’s my heart is to see churches meet the practical needs of people from their community, invite them to church and disciple them as part of the church family.”
Michael is married with three sons. Outside of work, he enjoys DJing, listening to gospel music, street preaching, and playing fantasy football.
