Murat grew up in Central Asia in a nominal Muslim family, but the seed of the gospel was planted in Murat’s heart at a young age when a local neighbour would regularly visit their house and share Bible stories with his family.
In college amongst Turkish Muslim friends, he was prompted to truly seek God and ended up finding him in the person of Jesus Christ through the Bible.
“I’m so thankful for what God has done in my life, and I want everyone to experience this same life transforming power. Especially by those who sincerely seek to worship God but don’t know Him personally.”
Murat now works as a missionary in Enfield, focusing on reaching out to Muslims and people from other religions with the love of God and the good news of Jesus Christ. He is seeking to equip and inspire everyday Christians in local churches to lovingly bring a message of hope in Christ to those least likely to hear it.
Enfield has a large population of Turkish-speaking Muslims, with many Turkish tea houses and mosques attended by the local community. There is a real need to reach out into these sometimes insular communities. The team are partnering with churches to set up regular Muslim-focused book table ministries, Turkish language small groups, English language lessons and community cafes.
“We meet many Muslims here in Enfield. It’s our desire for them all to be invited to church, hear the Gospel and have a Christian friend who would pray for them by name.”
Murat loves working out at a gym but hasn’t been in a while! He hopes to restart gym workouts once he’s fully settled.
