Rob Bridges

Missionary in Croydon

"We all have a part to play in taking the good news of Jesus to all of those who have yet to hear it"

After 28 years working for the NHS, Rob felt God was telling him there was more to his Christian walk than he was experiencing. He joined London City Mission on their Pioneer Programme in 2020 and after it finished, he successfully applied for a position as a Mission Associate working with the Homeless and Marginalised in 2022. He now serves as a Missionary in Croydon.

"The more I walk with the Lord, the more I realise that no-one is forsaken and that we all have a part to play in taking the good news of Jesus to all of those who have yet to hear it. For me, it was time to step up."

Rob currently works alongside other missionaries in the Croydon area seeking to partner with churches who either have or want to have a bigger impact on the people living in the shadows of their local communities.

Rob specializes in reaching seniors and people living on council estates. He shares, "Over the years, due to lack of investment and growing populations, many estates now show signs of neglect, deprivation, and a lack of hope. Children and retirees seem to suffer the most from the effects of poverty and isolation. The local church is perfectly placed to bring new hope to them through the name of Jesus Christ."

Croydon is now the highest populated borough in Greater London and the needs of its residents has also increased. It is considered one of London’s most dangerous boroughs (MET 2022) and has a growing problem with ‘County Lines’ crime.

"I long to see local churches working together, sharing resources, and bringing people closer to Jesus in their communities," says Rob.

Rob is married to Emma, they have 5 children, 2 dogs and 3 cats. Rob loves American cars and making models. Emma works in Speech and Language and loves T.V. drama and crochet.
