Tim Fielder

Team Leader in Lewisham

"My desire is for the people of Lewisham to find salvation, wholeness and a home"

Tim grew up as the son of a Welsh Pastor and became a Christian when he was 8 years old.

In his early twenties Tim built a small local library in a shanty town on the outskirts of Lima, Peru.

Tim joined London City Mission in 2010 working at Webber Street Day Centre before moving on to start ministries such as ‘Body and Soul Fitness’ (fitness sessions followed by bible studies for unchurched people) and ‘Worship Academy’ (a music teaching outreach program with a bible talk).

Since 2020 Tim has been working as Team Leader in the Borough of Lewisham.

“My desire is for every person in Lewisham to have the opportunity to hear the good news about Jesus.”

Through the ‘Missionary Jesus Course’ Tim helps everyday Christians to share the gospel confidently and effectively. The course also enables churches to start ministries to share the good news about Jesus and meet the practical needs of people least likely to hear the gospel.Lewisham is in the top 20% most deprived local authorities in England.

It has amongst the highest levels of child poverty in the country as well as one of the highest proportions of working age residents on out-of-work benefits.

“The need is palpable all around us” says Tim, “My desire is for the people of Lewisham to find salvation, wholeness and a home as they encounter the God that created them.”

Tim lives in Bermondsey, and in his free time, he enjoys listening to and playing music, trying different cultures' foods, and reading books.
