Before joining LCM, Yordan spent two decades serving in pastoral ministry and church planting in his native Bulgaria, and in 2011 he moved to the UK. Leaders from his new church in London saw Yordan’s gifting for evangelism and encouraged him to explore full-time ministry. So, in 2014 Yordan began working with LCM serving in Newham, East London.
“Jesus is God’s light and salvation to people of all nations. Since the time God has saved me, he has given me the understanding, desire and heart to proclaim the gospel of Jesus among the nations.”
Yordan now works as Team Leader in the boroughs of Barking, Dagenham, and Havering, where he specialises in reaching out to people in diaspora communities with the love of Christ. His vision is to equip and mobilise the local diaspora churches to share the good news in their communities. He wants to see more people from local churches to be confidently professing their faith and sharing the gospel with their friends and peers.
“Barking, Dagenham and Havering is a vibrant multicultural community – but it’s also one of the most deprived areas in the country, with nearly half of its children living in poverty. It is home to the biggest council estate in the country, and structured tower blocks loom over squat brick houses.”
“There are people from many different backgrounds, languages and religions. Many people in communities who would have traditionally identified as Christian have now abandoned their relationship with God, or never had such a relationship. Many children and young people grow up with no contact, or very limited contact with a church or the gospel. Faithful churches are working hard to make Jesus and his gospel known to the local community, but the need of trained and equipped workers is still big.”
“My vision for the area of Barking and Dagenham is that the salvation of sinners will glorify the name of Jesus Christ through the ministry of His church. I pray and believe that our team will be part of God’s plan to empower the church to achieve God’s purpose.”
When he’s not at LCM, Yordan loves learning about history, archaeology, and spending quality time with friends.
