God will work powerfully through each of us when we take small steps out in faith.
Here at London City Mission, we aim to build up everyday Christians to share the message of hope with those people least likely to hear it. We don’t often like to think that the “least likely” might be in our own doorstep, but research suggests that 42% of non-Christians in the UK don’t know a practising Christian at all.
You might feel like evangelism is a job for someone else – for pastors, street preachers, and full-time missionaries. We can certainly gain valuable encouragement and advice from these people, but the Bible is clear that evangelism is for everyone – not just gifted evangelists. The joy of sharing the gospel isn’t reserved for a select few, praise God!
Our focus as London City Mission remains the same today as it did in 1835 – to see the good news of Jesus lovingly shared in urban communities. And God chooses to use each one of us as his hands and feet here on earth.
And we don’t need to do this on our own – we can learn together as a church community, as we cross cultural barriers to connect with others and take a step outside of our comfort zone. With the help of the Holy Spirit, God can do more than we can imagine.
Together, we want to see people in our communities transformed, and it starts with our small steps of faith.
