Reaching hundreds of children with the gospel in a week

It's not every day you hear about children from other religions saying they love the church! That's exactly what happened when our Schools team partnered with East London Tabernacle Baptist Church to host the Life Exhibition in Tower Hamlets.

Hundreds of children from schools in Tower Hamlets attended the multimedia event, taking them on an interactive journey using technology to introduce them to the life of Jesus.

“There are many different children from loads of different faiths in Tower Hamlets. They don’t often come to a church building, hear from a Christian, or even know a Christian,” commented Antonia Sheldrake, from East London Tabernacle Baptist Church. "It’s amazing that so many of them who don’t believe in Jesus or believe something completely different about Jesus, can hear about him from Christians.”

One of the school teachers shared "We’d been learning about Christianity in our religious education classes, so we wanted to further our knowledge. We had children saying, “I love the church.” So, I think that’s a testament to how they felt about the whole exhibition. It was amazing. Brilliant.”

Charlie Macdonald, LCM Schools team leader shared that "Schools ministry is important because schools are communities where hundreds and sometimes thousands of young people are congregating 9 till 3 every day, five days a week, most weeks of the year. So it's a great opportunity to go into schools or get schools to come to your church, to be able to share Jesus with this generation that otherwise might not ever find out who he is or what he's done."

The heart of the Schools team is to see a Christian witness in every school in London. To find out how we can come alongside your church to reach your community with the gospel, visit lcm.org.uk/contact-cys to get in contact with us.
